the trip
A memorable song before you continue reading.. =)
PRICELESS!!

i am so sorry that this has been delayed till now..
some will say forget it..
but i have to pen it down cos i wanna remember it..

my almost 2 weeks dere was very very well spent..
i did things that I myself as well as izzah have not done before..
imagine she, who has been dere for more than 3 years have not done so much as i did in 2 weeks!
hahahahahaha!!
we ate at lots of places...
in melbourne we ate at esteller, nelayan and nandos..
dun quite fancy nandos tho.. find the chicken quite dry and nauseating..
love the pecelele at esteller and the beef rawon at nelayan.. yummy...
at sydney we frequented the silkroad restaurant, a chinese muslim restaurant with nice mutton dumplings... yummy yummy...

well we had 3 roadtrips..

first one was the great ocean road..
the road was by the ocean...
and to me in fact it was really great..
the roads were different and the view was indescribable..
there were so many bends and every turn brought our jaws to the floor..
like wat the fuck!
am i like dreaming or wad...
24 years of my life i have never seen such beautiful sceneries..
it almost felt like i was dreaming or seeing smth from a website...

we had no gps and and we had to rely on maps..
i can safely say that I will be safe driving in another country with izzah as a navigator..
first few hours we had our fights as she was struggling to read the maps..
i pitited her but i was mad cos it was really hard for me to drive and look at the map at the same time.. but she managed to learn.. we went out at 8 am in the morning and we came back close to 9 at nite... it was tiring but was well damn worth it...

2nd road trip was in sydney.. we thought we would just go anywhere by public den we discussed and we thought getting a car wud be much cheaper seeing the places we wanna go.. we drove to alot of places like the bondi beach, darling harbour, city, anzac bridge, sydney harbour bridge.. yea and sometimes when i look at the pics, i kept thinking.. i cant beieve i was dere.. oh.. we also drove to the blue mountains!!! my fave place...
we dint realise it but we were actually driving up a mountain and our ears kept getting blocked.. so we had to stop at different parts of the mountain.. the first stop we had to walk into the jungle abit to reach the lookout.. we did stop at other places but izzah kept saying dun wan... she scared we wud get lost.. haiz...
hahahahaha... and i was wearing t-shirt, board shorts and slippers....
nice attire for bush-walking..

3rd trip was to dandenong mountains where we had tea miss marple's tea room.. the wholr place up on that mountain had to do woth tea, teapots tea leaves.. and there was a nursery that sold the venus fly trap. eeqah followed us dere and i tink we enjoyed ourselves tremendously..
on the way dere, according to google maps there was a road that cut acroos the mountain.. but it did not inform us it was an off-road terrain.. we went quite up till we got scared.. so we turned around and went the long way.. if only i was driving a 4wd.. wud have bashed thru..
yet again.. more time in the future to try.. hahahahah... earlier in the day we went to ikea to buy tv cabinet and a bean bag.. hope they love them.. my labour of love for them.. hahahaha... shit! i forgot the sri lankan boy's name! damn it! cannot cari pasal...

b4 i went back we went to the docklands to walk ard before going to crown to have buffet dinner with renee and woi loon.. at crown, there was this fireball machine that wud be activated every hour and a huge fireball would be shot into the air.. like wow...

so dat concludes my trip to australia... 1 more entry for the last day... =)
miss dat place.. and wudnt think twice of going back dere again..

Memories from Australia..

WARNING!! this entry will not have pics to save time. For pics and videos of my australia trip, view thru my facebook profile or if u wanna see all the pics, proceed to my Multiply.

So we shall begin,

Thursday, 2nd April 2009. 0630hrs

Frankly, I have never gone a trip that would take me this far. It would be my first time flying alone and it certainly was my first time in the air for 9 hours straight. I was feeling pretty afraid, going to a totally different country and on my own. I could sense that my parents were very proud that I, as their only son, had the courage to go to a country far away from Sunny Singapore at my own expense. They were also pretty surprise that I prepared everything that was needed of me to travel by myself like plane tix, visa and blah blah blah.(Perks of being an outdoor instructor.)

So they sent me to the airport. The best thing was it wasnt at the budget terminal. It was at terminal 1. I remember sending and receiving my dad there when I was younger for his out station duties. We had breakfast together and my fear was overcoming me. There was no turning back. So at 0830hrs, we said our goodbyes, my parents kept smiling like as if I'm not coming back. I went in. I went thru the immigration and I discovered a whole new worlde beyond dat and the boarding gate was actually quite a walk in. I went thru like a shopping centre just to get to my boarding gate. There were starbucks, DFS stores and I cant remember what else.

I reached KL at 10am and I straightaway looked for a public phone to tell my dad I was already in KL. I went to check in my baggage for the flight that was to take me to Melbourne. I had to wait like 2 hrs till boarding. Went to the bookstore, got newspapers and Dan Brown's Angels and demons. Chilled out at coffee bean with a large Cinnamon Frappucino and started on the papers. Went to the gate for boarding at 1300hrs. Looked around me and saw so many people flying togetha. I felt so lonely. On the plane, I read my book. I read for hours on end. every 2 hours, I stopped and looked around. By the time, the stewardess announced that we were descending for Melbourne, I was almost done with the book. So I stopped reading and prepared myself mentally what I would do once I touched down. Initial pla was for me to spend the night at the airport till day break and then I would proceed to Izzah's place. I touched down, I cleared the immigration and customs pretty fast and I was pretty surprised to see that the immgrations officer checking my passport had a tattoo on the arm that was in clear of everyone. Back home we would never get to see that.

I went out and it was already 12.15am. The whole airport was deserted except for 1 or 2 passengers. I went out of the airport for a long awaited smoke and I planned. In my mind, I thought I would never be able to survive the whole night there doing nothing. I went to search for a public phone and I couldnt find any!! And the funny thing was, it was the beginning of autumn and I was in summer clothing. I was freezing! So I thought I would take the risk and get on a skybus to take me to Southern Cross railway. I was relieved when I saw a number of people getting on the bus.

So there I was in Melbourne with Izzah not knowing. I reached Southern Cross and I was relieved to see a row of public phones. So slotted in some coins and started dialling. Number invalid was repeated over and over again. No one was around me and I was totally alone in the huge bus park. Then I just had the gut to punch in zero before the number and I was right! Izzah picked up and she was like "WHERE ARE YOU?!" Then she gave me her address and told me to take a cab. I was preparing myself to get cheated. Izzah told me that from southern cross to her place was like 20 bucks. I went to the taxi stand and saw a familiar sight, 7-ELEVEN!! Went in and got some indomie cos i was freaking hungry. Went to the cab stand and the driver was outside his cab. I plucked up my courage and I spoke with the most accurate australian slang I had in me, "Hey mate, Could you get me to the Milano Apartments at 8 Franklin street?"
He was like," Sure thing!" I got charged 7 bucks. A mile away from Izzah's 20 bucks.

I went to the entrance and and saw 2 keypads. On the left it said smth abt milano apartments guest. I typed izzah's apartment number and it kept saying,"Room not serviced." So I keyed for help and this old white guy appeared from behind me and he said," How you going mate? You got me in my sleep." then i explained to him my prob and he told me to use the other keypad and sure enuf, Izzah answered. I took the lift and went to the 10th floor. Knocked on the door and prayed i had the right apartment. Izzah opened the door and I felt soo relieved until she asked me to pump my own air mattress. It was queen size and we had to use the manual pump. Talk about cruelity. Called my dad and informed him I was at Izzah's place. He was surprised again cos actually he was afraid I would get conned or kindapped. She and eqah helped cooked the indomie that I got. We ate and I slept on the couch. The sleep was fitful as I had to get use to the cold and also the place. Over there there is this smell of the air thats different from home. But the weather was better.

Thats the end of my first day. I'll update the other days together except the last day. So will do it later. Missing melbourne and you.. =)
